Learning to give feedback

Recently I gave some constructive feedback to others about their blog posts on topics similar to my own. Below are some screenshots of their posts, as well as links to the blogs of other educators exploring technology in our world today. All feedback was also commented on each page.

Firstly,

Hey Michael,

I really enjoyed your comedic style of writing in the piece “is there more to online games than fun”, it is very engaging! Providing anecdotes of your personal experience is very useful as it shows that you have some experience in the area of gaming to call upon in discussing the topic.

However I would like to have seen more reference to your research on this topic so that I know there is a solid basis for your arguments. Also, have you considered ethics in your post? Making reference to ‘murdering’ in games may seem funny, but is it appropriate with regards to the link to education in gaming?

A useful link to help you may be this article by Diana Oblinger found at:

Secondly,

Hey Danika, I really enjoyed your post on “to tweet or not to tweet”, particularly your discussion on the responsibilities we have as users of social media. Your use of Donald Trump as an example of how twitter can be misused as a social media platform was very relevant and leads readers to reconsider what they are saying on the internet. You have thought critically about the ethics surrounding social media use, which supports your argument well.

However, I would like to see you further explore how teachers can use twitter as a resource and the ways in which it can be useful for education. Other than that, perhaps use some more resources in supporting your arguments, or provide links to further discussion on the topic for your readers.

Here is a link to an article that you may find useful:
